QUESTION: What is your price point for stock up here in Lubbock? I read in “national” blogs that cover large grocery stores (like Albertsons, Safeway) that they wait until 75% off of retail or more to stock up. I can find 75% or more off on toiletries (sometimes), etc. but not groceries. I’m really happy with 50%. We don’t have the competition in Lubbock like some areas do so no great promos, catalinas, or double coupons. Am I just missing those awesome grocery stock up deals?
ANSWER: You’re right about the competition in Lubbock. My sister has a Kroger and she gets great deals that we just don’t get here so, no you’re not missing them…they don’t exist. hehe. Mostly because the lack of competition and then no one doubles coupons so, we miss out on a lot of savings. When I first started couponing, I kept a list of what I paid on a spreadsheet and then pretty soon I had a good list of what to expect to pay for stuff. I would say I’m happy with 50% savings on groceries. On toothpaste, deodorant, toothbrushes, body washes, pain meds, cough meds, dish soap, flavored waters I don’t buy unless I get them free because I have so many now. I also, do the rebates to get even more deals. At first I thought rebates were a waste of time but there were so many that I started doing some and became hooked on getting those checks in the mail!
I hope this helps! Thanks for the question! Jen
