About Me

Hi! First, let me say, thanks for taking the time to read my blog! I hope you can benefit from the information I’m providing you.
I moved to Lubbock about 2 years ago from Dallas. I didn’t know anything about Lubbock or where anything was. I was thankful for my iPhone maps because I used it everyday. I am a full time employee at a Dental clinic and work 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday. (That’s why my blog posts are so random) I’m also, newly married and a new step-mom of 3 kids. After I met the kids and we started doing things, like eating…I quickly learned that kids are expensive! So, being the new, enthusiastic step-mom that I was, I thought I would start finding things to do in Lubbock that didn’t cost too much money and just plan all kinds of fun things to do. To my surprise there was actually tons of Free things to do in Lubbock.
Soon, I became the “go to person” when someone wanted a deal or discount or where kids could eat for free, etc. I didn’t realized that I had accumulated all this information and it was just swirling around in my head, until people at work were talking about it one day. During this time of learning Lubbock and where to find deals and activities, December came and my husband was given notice that his job would end in January and that he would need to find a new one!
I was panicked because we lived paycheck to paycheck with a little left over that we managed to blow each month. We were already doing stuff for free or little money so we looked at our bills and decided to cut off our cable, take our lunches to work, cancel Tivo, and cancel a few other unnecessary things.
One day on facebook I saw that my sister had posted that she was excited about attending a “coupon class” at her church. My ears perked up and I wanted to know more about this “extreme couponing” she was talking about. So, after she took her class she called me and tried to talk me through it. We live 500 miles apart so it was difficult. I didn’t get it at first, I made mistakes every time I went to the store and even forgot to use the coupons I had in my hand! Finally after about a month I was getting a little better at it.
Then one day I got an email from the Dave Ramsey people that there was a class starting in Lubbock and you could attend the first class of Financial Peace for free to see if you might want to take the whole course. Well, you know I jumped on that opportunity for the free class! So, my husband and I both went and decided we really needed to change the way we were spending and not saving especially with the close-call on losing his job. (By the way, he got a new job by February 1st so, only a couple of days of wages were lost!) The class really got us focused and on the same page as far as where we were going to end up and what our money was doing for us now and in the future. So, we started a real budget with every dollar we make spent on paper before the month begins. We use the envelope system of cash and we stick to the budget! That’s how I know I’m saving so much with coupons because I know what I budget and I know how much cash I still have at the end of the month.
One frustrating part about couponing was that people in the big cities had websites they could go to and get their info that someone had already posted for them, but I could not find one for our stores here in Lubbock. Since I was already doing the work of matching coupons to our stores for myself, I thought I would go ahead and share this info by posting it in a blog. I mostly wanted to get information that I came across out there and organized where people could find these free things to do instead of hearing on Monday, “Why didn’t you tell me!” That’s how Lubbock Coupon Gal started!

Confused by the Printable Grocery Coupons from Smart Source. I do exactly what it tells me to do and I still can’t print out coupons. UGH
I know it’s frustrating sometimes! Try seeing if you can find some help here
Once it kept telling me I needed to update it, but the next day it was fine. I think their servers crash a lot…not sure. Can you print with coupons.com or same problem?
could you please explain the Lowe’s food store coupon policy to me, I can’t seem to find it any where. Thanks you! Do you teach coupon classes also
Hi Marcy,
It’s difficult to get a real coupon policy from Lowe’s, but I got this a couple of weeks ago after I was told by the cashier that they were no longer accepting printed coupons and I wrote the company to let them know how disappointed I was. They responded quickly and cleared up the “confusion”! I can tell you that twice I have had a coupon double at the register but no one knows when or why that happens. Print this letter out though so at least you won’t have problems with them taking your printed coupons.
As far as coupon classes, I don’t teach them on a regular basis, but email me your questions and I’ll help you. If I can find the time to do a class I’ll post it to let y’all know.
Just found your site, love it! Thanks!

Hi there! I am a mom of 2, about to be 4 in a few weeks and we are relocating to Lubbock from Michigan at the end of July. I am definetly adding your site to my favorites! I am hoping to get into couponing and learning more about saving in general since I will be a stay at home mom again once we get down there. Thanks for making this site and sharing what you know!!!
wow, you have a lot going on. Congrats on the new babies. Couponing will definitely help you out! I moved to Lubbock from Dallas almost 3 years ago and the people here are really friendly. Hopefully you guys will like it here too. Let me know if you need help getting started! Good luck with your move.
I moved to Amarillo 1 1/2 years ago from Dallas….I found your site and was pleased to find someone in this area that talks about our local stores. I’m dissapointed that none of ours have double coupons, but I have managed to finds some good deals.
Today, I was able to get 3 Hormel pork tenderloins at Albertson’s – B1G2 with Albertson’s in ad coupon and I had 3 $1 off manf. coupons = $11.12 for 3 ($3.71 each).
Hi Janet and thanks! Awesome deal on the meat! I wish we had double coupons too, but I’ve finnally just decided to not let it bother me that other people are getting so much better deals than we are or even more free items at their stores. I’m still getting a good deal (better than I would without the coupons and sale) so, I try to be happy about that.
I was so excited to see you on the news!! I’ve done coupons on and off for years and you have inspired me to get back into it! I hope we can meet in person sometime since I live in Lubbock – would love to get an actual coupon club started again.
Hi,
I am just now getting into couponing. I have never in my life clipped or even used a coupon. Of course with the hit tv show “Extreme Couponing” I am assuming that couponing will now become a big hit with consumers. Anyhow, is there anywhere in Lubbock that doubles their coupons? I don’t see how it is possible to pay close to nothing unless coupons double, or am I missing something?
